This week, the Washington Catholic Bishops announced the results of the NATIVE AMERICAN RESEARCH STUDY ON CATHOLIC BOARDING SCHOOLS AND CEMETERIES with Tribes. In all, the research reviewed records of the six schools and related cemeteries in the state, as well as available records from religious orders who taught at these schools. It is a first step toward a more complete understanding of the Catholic Church in Washington state’s relationship with local Tribes related to boarding schools. December 29, 2024 - During this time of uncertainty and fear, we stand with our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters. We, the Bishops of Washington State, stand with our brothers and sisters who are immigrants and refugees. The threats of mass deportations and forced separation of families have caused great fear for refugees and migrants and their families—documented and undocumented.
