CREMATION
The teaching of the Catholic Church states “While the Church recommends that the pious custom of burying the bodies of the dead be observed, cremation is permitted as long as it has not been chosen for reasons contrary to Church teaching.” Cremated remains are to be treated with the same respect given to the remains of a human body and should be buried or entombed. THE COMMITTAL
This is the blessing of the site of burial or internment, with rituals to help loved ones say their goodbyes in a spirit of prayer and reflection. A priest, a deacon, or a layperson delegated by the pastor may perform the Committal Rite.
MUSIC
Our parish recommends our Music Director, Ann Sager, for music. Music should be chosen in consultation with her to ensure its appropriateness for church liturgy. She is experienced and can sing and play a wide range of music, from contemporary to traditional. CLICK HERE to hear a selection of recommended songs by our Music Director.
RECEPTION
We have several venues for a reception following the funeral depending on size and availability. Our parish will supply volunteers for coffee, tea and punch service. We also provide set-up and takedown of facilities, linens, dishes, and table decorations. Any food you wish to have must be purchased or provided by the family. If the funeral is during school hours the food must be on serving trays or dishes and ready to be put on the table upon arrival. Please inform the Parish Office as soon as possible of your plans, including the estimated number of attendees.
DONATIONS & FEES
There is no fee for a funeral. However, most families and/or loved ones choose to make a memorial offering to the parish in honor of the deceased . In addition, there are fixed fees for music at the funeral (although these fees can be adjusted in cases of need) .CLICK HERE for more information about donations and fees.
