CHARITY UNITY FRATERNITY PATRIOTISM
A LITTLE HISTORY...
The Knights of Columbus form the world's largest Catholic men's fraternal organization. Founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, the Knights were initially chartered to care for the orphans and widows of its founding parish in New Haven, Connecticut. The Knights are now a formidable international charitable force of over 2 million Catholic men dedicated to upholding the moral teachings of the Catholic Church and the order's core principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. We aid the Church and its Priests, protect our member's families due to the loss of a loved one, distribute life-sustaining supplies to those in need, advocate for the vulnerable in society, care for the needy in our communities and encourage those entering into vocations of ministry.
St. Juan Diego Council 12175 at Our Lady of Guadalupe was started in the spring of 1998 and has now grown to a membership of over 60 Knights. We regularly help with parish functions including our annual Lenten Fish Dinners, Coats for Kids, and our Coffee and Donuts fellowship time for OLG parishioners, among many other events. We also encourage one another in discipleship and in prayer.
Charity is our Order’s first principle and the basis for all we do as brother Knights. It is important for us to keep track of and report service hours. We have no doubt under reported our service hours in past years because we have tried to collect the information on an annual basis. It is easy to remember the big events but there are so many little ways in which the Knights live out our charitable mission that are easily forgotten.
Please click the link below for an easy to use form to report all those little things while it is still fresh in your mind. There is a drop down menu to choose from our regular program and activities as well as an "Other" box to report activities not listed. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
