there are different ministries but the same Lord.”
(1 Cor 12:4)
Our parish has several councils, commissions, and committees to assist our pastor.
Parish Council
The Parish Pastoral Council is a primary consultative body to the Pastor. Informing the community, council members are challenged to undertake ongoing renewal through prayer, study, listening, and dialogue. In developing priorities and directions for the parish, the council is to become the means of achieving full participation by the whole parish in its mission by giving all a voice in guiding and directing parish life. In fostering communication, the council encourages and initiates dialogue among parish leadership and organizations and brings to them the concerns of the universal Church. Council members are appointed by the Pastor and serve a three-year term. We are currently in the process of forming our new council for the coming term.
Finance Council
The Finance Council advises our pastor on the stewardship of the parish's financial resources. Fr. Kevin, our pastor, appoints members who are experienced in business, operations, accounting, and finance. The Council assists the Pastor by:
Conducting long-range financial planning with regard to funding operational and capital needs in the parish;
Developing and overseeing a parish budget process which results in an annual parish budget. This process involves the participation of those responsible for parish programs, and addresses the parish’s priorities and goals as determined by the pastor and parish pastoral council;
Providing financial analysis of current fiscal status reports;
Providing fiscal analysis of proposed goals, strategies, programs, and administrative aspects of parish life.
Life, Justice, and Peace Commission
Life, Justice, and Peace Commission Based on a core belief in the dignity of the human person, the Life, Justice, and Peace Commission aims to integrate Catholic social teaching into the life of the parish. The commission seeks to offer parishioners a way to live out their call to love God and neighbor by providing opportunities for service, advocacy, and education. For more information, click here
Liturgy Commission
Our parish’s Liturgy Commission assists our pastor in achieving the goal of full, conscious, and active participation of the people at the Eucharist, as stated in the Constitution on Sacred Liturgy (SC, 14). The overall purpose of the Liturgy Commission is to advise and support the pastor on the spirituality and prayer life of the parish community. In addition, the Liturgy Commission, under the direction of the pastor, has oversight of the formation of parish liturgical ministries. Members include representatives from the Arts and Environment Committee, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Sacristans and Servers and Ushers, along with others appointed by the Pastor.
School Commission
The overall purpose of the School Commission is to advise and support the pastor and principal in the operation of Our Lady of Guadalupe School.
