RSVP is a program that invites us to reflect on the scriptures, share our faith in a comfortable setting, and pray in small groups with fellow parishioners. We gather in homes for six weekly sessions in the Fall and in Lent and many groups meet year-round. We read and reflect on the scriptures for the upcoming Sunday’s Mass and share our response to the readings and to helpful reflection questions. We then offer our prayers and petitions as a group. RSVP is a wonderful way to share our faith and build closer relationships with our fellow parishioners.
RITUAL: lighting a candle to remind us of Jesus’ presence with us
SCRIPTURE: reading / listening to the Sunday readings
VERSE: reflecting on a phrase or word from the scriptures
PRAYER: praying and faith sharing with reflection questions
Our parish is using Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg's book entitled "Come Follow Me: Discipleshiop Reflections on the Sunday Gospel Readings for Liturgical Year C". It is an excellent resource that breaks open the Gospel reading using current Scripture scholarship and insights. In addition, there are reflections that encourage us to respond more intentionally to Pope Francis' invitation to deepen our personal relationship with Jesus Christ and embrace our call to be missionary disciples. You can also participate as an individual or as a smaller group in this wonderful serires.
